TRUE FASTING

Oh, how should the reality of Isaiah 58 not dawn on us that the true purpose of fasting is for us to draw closer in union with the Lord in order to seek His Kingdom and manifest His Kingdom on earth.
Fasting is not something inactive, but full of activity. It is not something of duty or obligation, but is a desire and hunger to seek first the Kingdom and the will of the Lord.
The Lord seeks union with His children. To dwell thus in the Holy of Holies serves the purpose for us to be brought closer to the Father so that we are His reflection.
To fast is to be active in the Spirit. The activity of fasting should not be to please the Lord out of hardship or duty but to draw closer to Him in love so that we see His Kingdom fill the hearts of man.
True fasting produces the true fruit and the true character of the Lord for the fruit ripens in blessed union.
True fasting refines and purifies, shifting us out of the comfortable levels of the flesh and into the strength of the Lord’s fire. Fasting takes us higher and deeper into the glory as the Spirit liberates us.
Let us be disciplined in such knowledge.
